This image is from the mission that was founded upon the return of the Amistad Africans to West Africa by the missionaries who accompanied them on their return voyage aboard the Gentleman.
The current incarnation of the American Missionary Association is the United Church of Christ. UCC, in partnership with Amistad America is building the freedom schooner at Mystic Seaport beginning Sunday, March 8, 1998.
