"Suppressing the Slave Trade." New York Morning Herald, 21 Oct.,
1839.
SUPPRESSING THE SLAVE TRADE--The government has ordered a naval force to the coast
of Africa, to see that the laws for the suppression of the slave trade are carried
into effect, so far as regards American vessels. We presume this measure has been
adopted in consequence of the remonstrances of the British government, and the abuse
of the Consulate at Havana. Better late than never.
